BST MARINE CREW
Marine Crews form the vital part of the required manpower with regards to the three different departments found onboard each vessel.
These departments are: Deck, Catering and Machinist.
Those working under either the Deck or Machinist discipline are required for the maintenance of the vessel.
Deck
Forms part of the mooring, anchoring and emergency response parties; all acting under the supervision of the Officer in charge.
They are also involved in navigational and cargo watch duties and, maintenance tasks allocated.
Conditions at sea cause erosion to the outer part of the vessel and certain equipment hence, the need for a team of Deck crew to keep it in pristine condition.

- Multiple Roles for Different Types of Work Involving Maintenance Work on Deck, Engine Room, Mooring, Emergency Response and Keeping Navigational Watch
- Multiple Supervisors and Nationalities
Catering Is involved in daily routines such as food preparation, housekeeping duties and also forms part of the emergency response and First Aid parties.

- Work Assigned: Hotel services and catering
- Following Tasks from Cook Steward and 2nd Cook
Engineering The engineering crew carries out daily tasks allocated by the Chief and 2nd Engineer as per the Daily Work Plan. They are also involved in assisting Engineering Officers carrying out routine or non-routine maintenance of the vessel’s main and ancillary machinery and systems as required as well as, assisting the Cargo Engineer on deck with the overhaul and maintenance of cargo equipment.
- Normally report to 2nd or cargo Engineer
- Daily tasks: Assisting on the daily routine operations, making preparations for loading and discharging cargo, mooring operations, acts as Engine Room support.
Day Work- Monday to Saturday Deck and Engineering Working Hours 0800 to 1700 hrs: Break 1000 to 1030 hrs Lunch 1200 to 1300 hrs Break 1500 to 1530 hrs Over time work after 1730 Dinner 1700 to 1730 hrs Sunday Half Day and Sunday Lunch 1230 hrs
