Brunei Shell Tankers Sdn Bhd was established in December 1986 for the purpose of delivering LNG to overseas customers in Japan.

BST was initially a joint venture company comprising of the Prime Minister Corporation (the body corporate of the Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam) and The Shell Petroleum Company Limited holding equal shares. Later in late 2002, an agreement was reached for Diamond Gas Carriers B.V. to take stake of 25% of shares in the Company from The Shell Petroleum Limited, and become the third member of the Company.

BST owns seven ‘B’ class vessels; the Bubuk, Bilis, Bekalang, Bekulan, Belais, Bebatik and Belanak, all of which are chartered to BLNG.
