EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Marine Cadet
Every year, a selected number of candidates are sent for the BST Marine Cadetship Programme, a Foundation Degree course that runs over a period of three years at the chosen educational institute.
Following the successful completion of this course, an opportunity of employment is offered to the graduating Marine Cadet Officer.
The requirements for application for all candidates:
- Must be a Male, Bruneian Citizen.
- Must satisfy at least 120 UCAS points, i.e. minimum grade of ‘D’ and/or higher for A’ Level in numerical subjects such as Mathematics, Accounting and/or Physics.
- Must also satisfy the O’ Level minimum grades of at least ‘C’ and/or higher in English, Mathematics, Physics and/or Combined Science (with a Physical Science content).

Marine Crew
The requirements for the three crew departments are as follows:
Deck
Applicants must be able to write and communicate in English. Off-shore experience in multi-skilled tasks and in mooring, anchoring, emergency response, navigational and cargo watch would be an advantage.
Catering
Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the catering industry with recognized qualifications.
Applicants should also hold a Cook Steward certificate and some hotel catering experience would be an advantage.
Engineering
Applicants should have completed a recognized engineering apprenticeship training that includes skills as welding, tuning, fitting, etc or holding any of the following:
- OND in Engineering
- NTC Level 1 in Welding & Fabrication
- NTC Level 1 in Heavy Construction Machinery Mechanic
- NTC Level 1 in Marine Engineering
- NTC Level 1 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
