BGC CORPORATE INFORMATION

Formed in 1998, Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad (BGC) was first established for the sole purpose of building, owning and operating an LNG vessel that would be chartered to BLNG. This resulted in the Company’s first vessel; the s.s. Abadi that made its maiden voyage in 2002.

Over time, BGC continued to grow and became a Company that would outlive its initial purpose.

In June 2005, BGC began expanding its operations to include the provisions of services to Brunei Shell Tankers Sdn Bhd (BST) in the management of the supply of its manpower and operations of its 7 B-Class LNG vessels; i.e. services in financial & payroll, corporate & legal, human resources and administrative matters.

To facilitate the management of manpower more effectively, we were appointed with full responsibility of the employment of all Bruneian Marine Personnel onboard our LNG FLeet as of June 2009. This in effect supports our other aspiration to include ship management as one of BGC’s main business function. In pursuant of this, we have since sent the finest selection of Marine Officers to undergo further training and development to prepare them for their future distinctive roles within the ship management division.

Driven by the Bruneianisation Programme, BGC accelerated the recruitment of male Bruneian nationals to occupy the ranks onboard the vessels. To date, all Junior Marine Officers onboard all the Brunei LNG Fleet consist of Bruneians and there are now sufficient number of Bruneians to fulfil the rating requirements for all the Bruneian vessels. To date, 5 of our Bruneian Officers have joined the Senior Management Team onboard.

Aligning to the needs of our charterers, BGC has acquired two new LNG vessels equipped with Duel Fuel Diesel Electric engines. One of these vessels, the M.V. Arkat was delivered in February 2011 and it’s sister vessel, the M.V. Amali joined the fleet in August 2011.

Realizing the potential growth our nation has in regards to the transportation of energy resources, we continue to seek opportunities to better develop our personnel, our vessels, our country.
